A number of Bob's writings in both the secular and sacred realms have been published. His greatest interest in writing is related to Christian doctrine and principles. Since the beginning of his writing efforts he characterized his desire in writing as to help Christians develop a Living Theology and Dynamic Discipleship. Others have described his writing as Inspirational Doctrine—inspiring books which have a strong undercurrent of sound doctrine.
The origin of Bob's desire to write is rooted in his strong faith. He invited Jesus Christ into his life to become his Lord and Savior in May of 1960 while a freshman at the University of Washington. It is a long story regarding the events which preceded this most important decision of his life. We will relate one of the events. Bob was in school on a scholarship largely because of his mathematics ability. One day while listening to the old hymn "Amazing Grace" which states that when we've been there ten thousand years, we will have no less days to sing His praise, he realized that if eternity and eternal life were real, that was a true equation. It was one of the key turning points in his salvation.
The most important thing which we can say is that the truth of salvation becomes more clear and precious after making the initial decision. For anyone who is struggling with this issue, we pray you will step forward into Jesus Christ's arms in faith. (You exercise faith every day in other matters such as driving across bridges when you do not fully understand the engineering principles involved but have the testimony and witness of other drivers who find the bridge trustworthy.)
